Provide leadership and strateguic guidance to Jay Foods Lanka[pvt]Ltd, a newly established company aiming to introduce new, high-quality food products to the Sri Lankan consumer market.  In addition to mass production and sales, Jay Lanka foods has also been involved in a 2013 initiative to establish a rearing programme for dairy cows in the Gampaha district of Sri Lanka.  Objectives include: the establishment of a milk processing plant in Delatura, establishing a formal milk collection scheme and creating a justified farm-gate price for milk in the area.

Provides strategic guidance and management to Lili dairy farm, situated in Giriulla in the northwestern province of Sri Lanka.  It is the only village-based farm cheese production unit catering to a niche market for Italian cheeses in Sri Lanka.  Mr Rodrigo provides oversight on product development, business planning, and sales and marketing development.

CEO, Dambadeniya Export Village and Development Foundation                    2003 – 2011

Responsible for the planning and management of operations, designed to achieve optimum productivity and, consequently, profitability of the  Dambadeniya Export Village. The village is the largest women-owned and managed company in Sri Lanka, manufacturing eco-packaging for the private sector.  By promoting the socio-economic empowerment of women, it promotes their role in decision-making in their communities and helps to improve their household livelihood.  The company has a total of 3800 female shareholders from 213 villages across the region.

Independent consultant 2001 – 2003

Worked on a number of development programmes for various international donors, including World Bank, ILO and the European Union.  Mr Rodrigo has advised on food safety and nutrition programmes, as well as rural dairy farmer development initiatives, including a role as deputy team leader of a project design for small dairy farmer poverty reduction in Central/Western Provinces (development of dairy farmer coop societies led by Lincoln University - New Zealand and funded by the Asian Development Fund).
